For 8 days you have to post something that made you happy that day: Day 5
Rather inappropriate icon, since the happy-making is Woxin - flemmings' Woxin fics of the last several days, and xsmoonshine's Santa-hat!Gou Jian Woxin pic :D

Dec 2nd prompt for 31_days: ( make him tame so he can live in peace with the world )
It is the 2nd here, and looks like a busy day. Title from another of Sutardji Calzoum Bachri's poems, In front of the Ka'abah ("I look for my veins, and search for my blood...") The prompts for subsequent two days are slightly terrifying.

December 1st prompt from 31_days:
( let snow and silence mark the site of my unseemly appetite )
(set in the historical!AU where Gou Jian & co. are ensconced fairly comfortably as grooms/servants in huts near the royal stables.)

1. Pick character(s), pairing(s), and/or a fandom. 2. Turn on your music player and put it on shuffle. 3. For each song that plays, write something related to the theme you picked, inspired by the song. You have only the time frame of the song. No skipping songs: you have to take what comes by chance (exceptions made for instrumentals, unless the title takes your inspiration hostage fancy.) 4. Do 5 of these, then post.
( Largo al factotum (4:49) )
( She’s A Mystery To Me (4:16) )
( Eye of the Tiger (4:07) )
( Save The Last Dance For Me (3:38) )
( Autumn Leaves (2:42) )

While poking around for info about Lan Yu (蓝宇), the gay movie with Hu Jun and Liu Ye, came across this hilarious exchange between Uncle Ming and Hu Jun during press conference for Woxin:
Uncle Ming: As an actor, except for being shot dead, the only way to give a good performance is to do it for real. Hou Yong (Woxin director): Don't forget sex scenes. Ming(:D): Those too. Hu Jun: Since when have you been in a sex scene? Ming: Next movie...(Who with, reporter interrupts)...with Hu Jun, the sequel to Lan Yu ^_^ Hou(:p): That would be Lu Yu (绿宇), then? Jun (XD): Heh, that's right.
So some talented and imaginative fans made a trailer for 绿宇, featuring Nie Ming Yu (聂明宇) from Black Hole(黑洞), a 2002 CCTV drama about business corruption in the big city, and Chen Han Dong (陈捍东) post-Lan (whose surname translates to "blue", as opposed to 绿, "green") Yu:

Supposed to be yesterday's fic prompt, but my excuse is that I was working on it last night until succumbed to the effects of Sudafed and only woke up this morning when alarm clock rang for work.
Feb 14:( our swords shall play the orators for us )

Since one isn't supposed to leave things unfinished over the Chinese New Year (but am post-call and this is mainly from memory + illegible scribbles, so apologies for stupidity and defective recall):

Very learned-looking paper with intriguing-looking references, of which highlights include:
- "Gōu Jiàn could be referred to in Chinese as “Tǎn Zhí”(Reed-holder)", apparently a Vietnamese symbol of pre-ordained kingship (but which called up less regal associations to this Chinese reader XD). - putatively stark cultural and linguistic differences between the Wu-Yue peoples of the south (full-body tattoos, short hair and trousers, kelongs stilt-houses) and their more sinicized Chu neighbours, posing questions such as " Did Fūchāi have to suppress irritation at Wǔ Zǐ Xū’s fumbling attempts to express himself in Yuè?" and "Was the kind of Chinese known to Gōu Jiàn sufficiently like the Chinese known to Fàn Lí for this expedient to have been of any use?" My answers: not after decades in the country, and *laughter* especially since one of the references cites an ancient text known (rather suggestively) as 枕中 ("within the pillow") as "a series of policy discussions between Gōu Jiàn and Fàn Lí." - Gou Jian trying to exhume Yun Chang to move him to the new capital, and failing because of "a swift wind that arose from within the tomb causing people to be hit with flying sand and rocks". - Gou Jian's Sacred Turtle Mountain! - ghost!WZX appearing to Gou Jian (alas, the author does not say why; have to go to source) - Xi Shi the "severely loyal and correct floozy" who is described in a late Tang text as having had "illicit relations with Fàn Lí along the way, not reaching Wú until three years later. Thus she had a son and, upon coming to this pavilion, her son at the age of one year was able to talk, so it was called “Talking Infant Pavilion.”

I have no excuse and no regrets!
( I Am The Very Model Of A Milit'ry Prime Minister )
it was either this, or today's 31_days prompt, for which all I could think of was Gou Jian and co.'s time in Yue, or young!Helu and younger!WZX plotting murder and mayhem.

Everything that needs to be said about eps 28-30 is here , courtesy of flemmings, though I must still repeat that Ya Yu continues to be awesome and is possibly the single most astonishing female character in any historical drama that I've seen, and that includes biographies of Empress Wu Zetian and Empress Dowager Cixi.
Anyway, ( Woxin eps 28-35, impressions and spoilers )
