From ambientlight and xsmoonshine Fic meme: 1) DVD commentary: Point at a story, and I will babble about it. (not expecting any takers for this, owing to lack of output)
2) Write me anything from a sentence to a drabble (or more if you desire), any fandom you want and think I know. Identify fandom and characters if it's not clear from what you wrote. I will respond in some fashion -- fic, art, bad poetry, a mini FST, etc.
3) Make up a title for a fic I've never written and I'll give you a blurb, excerpt, illustration or whatever else strikes my fancy.
From ambientlight Association Meme: Comment to this post, indicating that you'd like to play, and I'll give you 5 subjects/things I associate you with. Then post this in your LJ and elaborate on the subjects given.(optional)

I would like to pick your braaaains see you talk about one of your fics, but I can't seem to find a list of everything you've written? (I did check the 'tags' but either didn't recognize the fandoms or they seemed to be ficbits and I distinctly remember you having written more than that!)

Oops. Maloki fic is under "maloki", mostly on the second page - first page is all crossovers and bits - or on my ffnet account.
Mushishi fic is all under "mushishi", but there really isn't much, unless you include giftfic and the Yuletide 2006 one.
Not sure if you know the other main fandoms e.g.tactics, Scrapped Princess?

First part of the fic:
There must be a rule against excessive revelling outside of Valhalla, even on the birthday of one of its highest gods. Mjollnir isn’t the only thing that this universe’s Thor is famous for throwing; this is one of his massively wild and wildly massive parties. Unfortunately there don’t seem to be any rules about this, and Thor would break them anyway, like everything else.
Especially if one is the host of said party.
“Hey! Watch where you’re going, you - ah, sorry, Heimdall. Thought you were someone else,” a slightly unsteady and very drunk Thor grunts as he proceeds to haul himself upright with only a bit of help from Heimdall’s shoulder, a nearby Vanir, and two giggling Valkyrie maidens. He staggers off with one on each arm (leaving the unfortunate Vanir to pick himself up from the floor), regaling them with the tale of “that huge serpent that got away by just this much, but I’ll get him if it’s the last thing I do...” Thor can’t even leave Jormungandr alone when he’s drunk, it seems. We hope he doesn’t get caught drink-fishing.
Most of Thor’s guests are either flat on the floor in various states of inebriation, or making merry (and more) out in one of Thrudheim’s many rooms with a din that would wake the others if they weren’t already practically comatose. Heimdall decides that now might be the best time to leave, before someone makes him “help finish” the last of the seemingly inexhaustible tankards of mead. Even a god who hardly needs sleep can still get a hangover. Especially since he suspects that there was something in the mead, the same something that made him embarrassingly light-hearted in public one night and excruciatingly heavy-headed on his solitary patrol the next day. That one night would have ended in grievous bodily harm for a certain trickster god if he hadn’t scarpered before Heimdall discovered the theft (Loki: “disappearance!”) of two goblets, a new set of bedlinen, his sword, and other more precious items
Heimdall prefers not to think of that experience, since Loki was involved. He collides with someone and mutters an apology, trying not to appear too conspicuous in his departure, but looks up, startled, when that person throws an arm around his neck.
Speak of the – never mind. Heimdall resigns himself to the situation. “And where are you going, missing all the fun?” Loki’s eyes are almost as languid, and deeper, than his voice; there is a flush on his face that is clearly not all due to intoxication. Come on, Loki, we know what you’re drunk on.
Heimdall brushes aside the sting of irritation at Loki’s inability to control himself. It is, after all, none of his business where and what Loki does with whom. “I do not participate in these games, though you seem to enjoy them.” Loki appears to survey the damage a tad more soberly. “It’s all fun and games until someone loses an eye. Foreshadowing, much? Or something more important. Anyway that reminds me, need to speak to Odin – have you seen him? No? S’alright, can wait. Since he’s not here, let’s go, it’s getting too noisy even for me. What’s that you say? Sorry, can’t hear you on account of the noise!” It happened the last time too, except that then he was drunk and incapable of doing anything other than letting Loki steer him in the direction of Himinbjorg. Heimdall wonders why, being comparatively sober now, he is repeating his mistake, unable to tear his gaze away from Loki’s animated face. Perhaps the same thing was in tonight’s mead...if only he could remember what it made him do then...Heimdall, Heimdall. Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it (though not down to the last detail – Loki likes variety)
Coming up: next part + deleted scene!

Deleted scene!
Loki:...so anyway, this one time in Jotunheim – Heimdall! Are you not, in your capacity as the Guardian of Asgard, the least bit interested in how the valiant Thor and the cunning Loki vanquished those giants yet again?
Heimdall (sotto voce): I see and hear all within a thousand leagues.
Loki (brightly): Well, in that case, surely you must have seen and heard what happened on the night that the Vanir twins were so busy that Freya didn’t notice the loss of a certain necklace...I must say, I didn’t think one could do that underwater in the confines of a tub, but they are seafarers after all.
Heimdall (looks pained): Hmmph.
Loki (suddenly solicitous): Is the wine going to your head, Heimdall? You look as if you’re seeing stars...oh look, there’s the light in your hall, I’ll see you home safely! *grin*
I think the next part is pretty self-explanatory...but man was it difficult to write the scene. And read, in certain areas. . . . fans self. Temperatures can get quite high Down Under at such times.
Last bit:
Any guests staggering home late from Thrudheim (Thor's hall, where the party is still going on) might have wondered at the sounds and words coming from Heimdall’s austere hall at that point, but as it happens, no one hears their cries and gasps of pleasure except the two who are making them, especially when they do it all over again and again, alternating positions until Heimdall is sated and Loki sleeping with his cheek against Heimdall’s chest.
Loki is a light sleeper, as Heimdall knows from the previous occasions that he invited himself to stay at Himinbjorg and was woken by deliberately-loud noises in the other room (Heimdall stamping around in heavy boots and remarking at the top of his voice what a fine day it is OUTSIDE); but now, he hardly stirs when Heimdall gently lifts his arm and pulls the covers over him.
Heimdall thinks he knows what was in the mead last night; he only wishes that Loki had none of it himself.
Loki is not averse to spiking the mead to achieve his goals; the trouble is that the effects persist a little longer for Heimdall.

Sometimes Heimdall was grateful for the pain in his eye, for for it kept him focused despite all the distractions and joys and frustrations of this world.
Of course, it was much easier to be focused when the cause of that pain was dangling from a robotic arm directly overhead. Heimdall stepped back delicately and pressed a button on the remote control, sending Loki crashing to the ground at his feet, and for once, was grateful for one of Freyr's insane inventions.
Happily Never After
"Congratulations, Sugino-sama. Although the bride isn't quite what, I mean who, I expected..."
"Shut up, Onikui-tengu. Muu-chan doesn't nag, will never dress frivolously, and dances beautifully. What's not to love?"
Haruka throws back another cup of sake, tactfully refraining from pointing out that his hostess utters only variations of the sound "Muu", and is gyrating about the room naked and inebriated.

Baccano! is A+++ highly recommended would watch again (and again and again and again)! The light novels are fun as well, though I'd probably go with the anime first as the novel structure is more logical and therefore lacking in a certain Guy Ritchie-ness. XD Also, I think they're better when you can hear the seiyuu's voices in your head as you read.
I feel stupid asking this, given your admitted unfamiliarity, but by "computer games" are you specifically differentiating from console games, or are all video games good to go?
Oh, and for the #2 fic meme: "So . . ." Pacifica says, taking out one of her earbuds and fiddling the wire between her fingers, "um, so you and Forsyth are pretty close, right?"

Thanks for the rec! I shall endeavour to check it out.
I'm quite an idiot when it comes to computer games of all sorts, whether console or video...the last game I played was Mahjong, more than ten years ago *facepalm* But they are always interesting to hear about!
"So . . ." Pacifica says, taking out one of her earbuds and fiddling the wire between her fingers, "um, so you and Forsyth are pretty close, right?"
Her visitor shifts a tad uncomfortably in the chair, which is wooden and straight backed - despite the princess' status, she still prefers to live in the same farmhouse where she grew up, feeding the chickens and milking the cow (even though Zeffiris does most of that nowadays). Pacifica has always been stubborn like that.
"Why do you ask? He's still the King of Linevan."
Pacifica seems not to notice the guarded, almost pained expression in her companion's eyes.
"Well, I was just wondering - why wasn't he asked to be the godfather of the baby, Winia?"

This was the snippet of a prologue to Three Men and a Little Lady (plus baby), an exciting adventure where Chris, Shannon, and surprisingly Forsyth have to rescue a very pregnant Winia from disgruntled former priests of Mauser who have retreated underground.
Prod away!

Unguided
It seems to Fulle that the Scrapped Princess waited in almost every story and every secret ever told in his unit. Fear, hate, anger: he thought he had left them all behind when he walked away after that last fight - massacre, rather.
He hadn't, until he met Pamela.
He watches her now, chatting animatedly with the neighbour next door whom he had never exchanged more than three words before today (and still hasn't, though Pamela vows that she'll soon have that fixed). She turns to him, and her smile broadens as she points to the night sky behind him.
"Look, Fulle! A shooting star - quick, make a wish."
He doesn't tell her off for believing in silly superstitions, though he knows that wishes not made on stars do come true.
Reply | Parent | Thread | Link
Love the reversal, using shooting star imagery when, in Dustvin, they are guided. It seems especially fitting since Pamela, who seems so free, is the one with the Special Destiny. Thanks for this--I've missed SutePri.

This is not wise, but Fu Chai has done many things that his advisors have called unwise since he became King.
"Be still, Gou Jian! How do you expect Us to capture your mouth if you keep twisting it about in that way? Move closer, and look directly at Us."
The king of Yue throws his chin up defiantly, and shifts into a more comfortable position, but does as he is told. Good, good, Fu Chai mutters, bending forward. The look of intense concentration returns to his eyes as one hand tightens its grasp and the other begins to move again -
The door bursts open with a crash. Wu Zi Xu gapes at the sight before him, followed by panicked attendants and a bemused Bo Pi.
"Majesty! Have You no concern for Your dignity and Your welfare?"
"Chancellor, we're both warmly dressed. But, haven't you made a snow-man before?"

The Dragon Sleeps Tonight
Fandom: Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon Characters: Jen (玉娇龙), Yu Shu-lien (俞秀莲) Rating: G
an excerpt:
Jen's hands are so far away from her mind that she has to unpick all the the work done in the last ten minutes. Her companion pretends not to notice her young friend tugging at the last strands of gold thread with her teeth, even though the embroidery scissors is conspicuous on the table between them.
"You sew so beautifully, Sister Shu-lien! Can you teach me your secret?"
"Patience isn't a secret. Though you won't need to be a seamstress when you're the mistress of the house." The corner of Shu-lien's mouth quirks up a little, but her eyes are smiling. Jen is not, and her eyes are fixed on Shu-lien plying her needle more gracefully than the callused palms and strong fingers would suggest.
"I wish I could be the mistress of a protection agency."

Tsuzuki flinches as Tatsumi reaches out to rest a hand on his shoulder -- the touch is tentative, awkward, not like Tatsumi at all.
"You should get some rest, Tsuzuki. Don't worry about the damage - the department budget has more than enough to cover it. Shall I ask the kitchen to bring you a little something for supper, before you sleep?"
Tsuzuki's eyes are already overflowing before Tatsumi is halfway done. Hisoka eyes them suspiciously.
